Publications

The following publications are the main products for regular dissemination of current ifb research results:

ifb-research reports, working papers („ifb-Materialien“), Journal of Family Research („Zeitschrift für Familienforschung“), congress proceedings and workshop reports.

The Journal is published three times a year (i.e. in April, September and December of each year). In 2010, alongside with regular papers, special issues with papers in English were published on “Minority ethnic groups’ marriage patterns in Europe” (1/2010), “Mobility and family. Increasing job mobility – Changing family lives” (2/2010) and “Gender relations in Central and Eastern Europe – Change or continuity?” (3/2010).

A book format special issue of the Journal with contributions in German and English on “Intimate relationships and parenthood in same-sex couples. Distribution, institutionalization and organization of everyday life“ (Original title: „Partnerschaft und Elternschaft bei gleichgeschlechtlichen Paaren – Verbreitung, Institutionalisierung und Alltagsgestaltung“) was edited by Marina Rupp and will be published by Barbara Budrich Publishers.

In 2010, the English translation of the proceedings of the 3rd European Congress of Family Science (June 12-14 2009, Vienna) has been published by Barbara Budrich Publishers under the title “Family Diversity, Collection of the 3rd European Congress of Family Science” (edited by Olaf Kapella, Christiane Rille-Pfeiffer, Marina Rupp and Norbert F. Schneider).

Report on the State of the Family in Bavaria

The aim of this report is to give an overview of the current situation of families in Bavaria. In addition to providing basic data, this report focuses on identifying emerging (sociodemographic) trends, potentially problematic patterns and new challenges with which family policies might have to deal with. Similar to the National Family Reports, the Bavarian Family Report will keep monitoring the state of families in Bavaria. The information compiled in this report aims at politicians, administrators, associations and scientists.

The 2009 Edition of the ifb Report on the Family addresses the situation of families from a comparative European perspective. In addition to analyses of the development of demographic trends and family forms, the different benefits in family policies in the individual countries of the European Union are being highlighted. The current Report also deals with the division of work in the family as well with the material situation and financial exchanges between generations.
